Spaw day for cats

How do you pamper your pet who’s known for purring, meowing, and chasing mice? Cats need love too! Treat your feline friend to a day full of pampering and relaxation! Check out these tips for treating your fuzzy friend.

Buy a new toy

Surprise your feline with a trip to your local pet store to get some new toys! Old toys may become boring to your kitty, so find something new that will keep them active and engaged.

Let your feline roam the outdoors

Cats are curious and love to get out and explore. Try training your kitty to walk on a leash. Get them used to wearing a collar or harness by slowly introducing them to it. Give them treats when they respond well to the leash. Pretty soon, you’ll be able to take them outside so they can view the world around them—safely!

Groom your cat

Your cat will love a little extra TLC for their beautiful coat. Give them some extra affection by brushing out their fur with a pet brush. This will also help you get rid of those pesky hair balls! It’s a win-win.

Kitty massage

Give your cat a massage to help relieve their stress and soak in the relaxation. Learn how here. Not all cats like to be massaged, so make sure your cat is comfortable and accepting of it. In addition to relaxing your cat, a massage can also help to strengthen the bond between you and your pet!

Salmon delight

Switch things up by adding some decadent salmon to your cat’s treats. This delicacy will bring purr-fectly luxurious vibes to your furry friend’s days!

Ingredients:

1 can of salmon in water, no salt added, drained
½ cup quinoa flour
½ cup oat flour
1 teaspoon dried organic catnip
1 large egg
½ tablespoon olive oil

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Place all the ingredients into a food processor and blend until an emulsified and slightly sticky dough forms.

3. For extra-cute treats, roll out the dough and cut out shapes with small cookie cutters. Or simply cut off small pieces of dough and roll into little balls. Remember that these are treats, so they should not be too big.

4. Transfer the treats to your baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until they are dry and a little browned. Cool completely before giving to your cat. Store in an airtight container.

YL tip: Switch this recipe up with different flavors depending on your cat’s preferences. Try using canned tuna, chicken, or sardines. Just make sure they have no added salt and are stored in water, not oil.

Provide new hangout spots

Cats love to discover new places to explore. Keep your cat entertained and treat them to a new cat tower or play area. Additionally, cats love to relax and soak up the sun, so find new spots around your house where your cat can curl up and nap.
