A friend said it is safe to ingest 1 drop of lemon vitality in water each day. Is this true? And will it interact with my blood pressure meds and thyroid meds? Thank you, Kathy
Hi Kathy, If you have a disease or medical condition, or if you are using a prescription medication, it is recommended that you consult with a health adviser who has experience with Essential Oils prior to using an Essential Oil. Seek the advice of the prescribing physician and a pharmacist about potential interactions between the medication(s) and the essential oil(s). Thanks for stopping by!
1 more question 😂 – is all lemon essential oils safe for consumption?
What would happen if you put lemon essential oil on your skin then went in the sun? Would it have benefits? << If it does I will most likely do it 😊
Hello Marj. Lemon essential oil is actually photosensitive, so you want to never put it on and then go directly into the sunlight. To help you learn more about this topic, please go to our blog: https://www.youngliving.com/blog/photosensitive-essential-oils-summer-safety-tips/ Hope that helps and thanks so much for stopping by with your question.
What are the benefits of drinking water with lemon oil? Is it harmful?
Hello Kathy. Many people like to add some Lemon Vitality to their drinking water, simply for the flavor and the fact that it helps them to stay hydrated. It should not hurt you at all, unless of course you have allergies to lemon. Hope that helps!
I had this lemon essential oil and Ive got the Enagic’s Kangen water as well. I just wondering that can I combine both as my daily mosturizer? and my next question is, can I use this lemon oil to reduce flu for my baby age 2 years old?
Hello Win, We do not recommend using Lemon Essential Oil in your daily moisturize as it does have a photosensitivity warning associated with it. If Lemon Essential Oil comes in contact with skin, we recommend avoiding direct sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours. Has anyone ever added lemon vitality to a cooking oil, like grape seed oil. Wild tree used to make one that I loved but they discontinued it. So I wanted to add drops of my lemon vitality oil to my bottle of grape seed oil. It’s a 12.7 oz. bottle and I was wondering how many drops to add to it.
What’s the difference between regular lemon oil and lemon vitality essential oil? Or is there even a difference?
Hi Kyla, The Vitality line of oils is the same 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils for which Young Living has become known. The Vitality line was created so that members can draw clear distinction between topical/aromatic use and dietary use. Please refer to the individual bottle labels for usage directions. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi there, I wish to clarify after reading some of the posts here.
Does this mean that only lemon vitality is safe for consumption however the bottle indicated as lemon, 100% essential oil is not?
The labels on the bottles are different due to compliance, but the contents of the bottles are exactly the same 😉
I use lemon essential oil in my diffuser and bath tub. It works great!
Are you saying there are no differences in the ingredients or makeup of the Lemon vs. Lemon Vitality? Or do the two exist separately merely to meet the FDA requirement for distinct labeling?
Can Lemon Vitality be used in the diffuser?
Hi Angela, Great question! The Vitality line of oils is the same 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils for which Young Living has become known. The Vitality line was created so that members can draw clear distinction between topical/aromatic use and dietary use. Lemon essential oil would be the appropriate choice to use in the diffuser as it is labeled for aromatic use. Please refer to the individual bottle labels for usage directions. Thanks for stopping by!
Can drop into bottle and drink ?
Hi Yvonne, You may add 1-2 drops of Lemon Vitality™ to every 8 ounces of water to taste. It is recommended to use a glass or stainless steel bottle. Thanks for stopping by with your question!
I drink water with Lemon Vitality often. I know I can use the lemon Vitality in a glass container, but can it be used in a ceramic mug? I’d like to add it to my tea???
Hi Dana, Ceramic is a fantastic alternative when a glass container is not available for using the Vitality oils in your drink!
Has anyone used lemon oil in place of lemon zest in a recipe? If so, what is the substitution?
Hi Samantha, Great question! We recommend starting out with small amounts of oil and then increasing the amount according to your own taste. For juice or zest of one citrus fruit we recommend 10-15 drops of oil.
How come in the basic starter kit the uses are different than in the product guide? For example, the lemon essential oil on the sheet (the sheet with the 10 or so essential oils) says dietary, but in the product guide it says diffuse and/or topically? Do you know what I am talking about?
What is the difference between vitality and the normal lemon? It doesn’t specify in the product guide.
Hello Chelsea, Excellent questions! Young Living® had recently made some changes to the instruction panel on our essential oil labels. These changes where made to align our labels with FDA regulations that state a product cannot be labeled for use as a dietary supplement AND for topical or aromatic use, both could not be on the same label.
In compliance with these regulations, our essential oils have been displaying labels that distinguish the products intended as a dietary supplement and those intended to be used for topical application or aromatic use. This labeling did not reflect any changes to the constituents or benefits of our essential oils. With that being said the Vitality line of oils is the same 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils for which Young Living has become known. The Vitality line has been created so that members can now draw clear distinction between topical/aromatic use and dietary use. Please always refer to the individual product labels for appropriate usage directions.
How my drop should I put in a 300ml of diffuser?
Hello Kenneth, we recommend following the operation instructions listed in your diffuser manual. Similar units have suggested 8-10 drops, however it can be adjusted to personal preference. Thanks for stopping by with your question!
Is lemon oil safe for ingestion? I have been mixing a drop with water. The product book indicates it’s meant for topical use and diffusing.
Hi Jennifer, Thank you for your question. Lemon essential oil is labeled for aromatic or topical use. However, our Lemon Vitality can be added to a tall glass of cold water for a refreshing drink during your day. Thanks for stopping by!
Due to fda regulations it makes it hard for essential oil companies to say certain things especially publicly..both are essentially the same thing but due to fda rules they are not allowed to represent a topical/aromatic oil for dietry use…its the same oil different label so if youre worried you’re ingesting something that will hurt you or is unsafe the answer is no

I haven’t tried it yet, but I read where lady bugs do not like the scent of lemon and that you can make your own natural repellent with it. Time to figure out a mixture and experiment!
Why would you EVER want to repel ladybugs? They are one of the best insects to have in gardens and yards. They eat the bad insects that can attack your plants.
Ladybugs lay hundreds of eggs in the colonies of aphids and other plant-eating pests. When they hatch, the ladybug larvae immediately begin to feed on the BAD insects.
Hello and Good morning, I love my Lemon oil. I use one drop in my mother’s milk tea and I also use one drop in my water from time to time. It smells amazing and I love it!

I’m sipping a refreshing glass of what I call Spa Water since I originally had it when getting a massage. Take a about 1 liter of water and slice 1/4 cucumber, fresh sprig of Rosemary (or rosemary essential oil), 1/2 orange in large slices and 3-4 drops of YL Lemon oil. So refreshing and so many good for you benefits in this.
You know how 26 cups of peppermint tea is equal to 1 drop of oil? How about lemon, is there something that says how many lemons it takes to get 1 drop?
I read that it takes 75 lemons to make a 15ml bottle of lemon EO.
I had ants coming into my kitchen and invading my rubbish bin. I added 5 drops of YL Lemon oil to about 1/2 cup of water and sprayed it along the line where they were marching, and at entry point, then wiped it all over inside and out of the plastic bin. Voila! That was a few weeks ago now. Still no sign of any ants. Magic!
I use it 1 drop in every glass of water to cleanse the liver and support the kidneys.
is it one drop only in a glass of water of empty stomach ??
I used peppermint oil and water in a spray bottle for my ants
Love this! Lemon is one of the oils I never really know what to do with other than flavor my water and remove the sticky stuff left from price tags (but not on anything plastic or vinyl.
Great tooth whitener.
Blair, I’d love to hear more about how you’re using Lemon as a tooth whitener.
Me too!
