Like a Swiss Army Knife, these oils—Lemon essential oil, Lemon Vitality™, Peppermint essential oil, Peppermint Vitality™, Thieves® essential oil, and Thieves® Vitality™—have an application that’s right for the situation at hand.

Lemon and Lemon Vitality Essential Oils - Young Living

Naturally occurring constituent: d-limonene

Besides smelling amazing, Lemon essential oil is also a workhorse around the house. It’s useful in your toiletries bag, too, since it may improve the healthy appearance and sheen of hair and may reduce the appearance of blemishes.*

Once Lemon Vitality is in your kitchen, you’ll be reaching for it on the regular for its zesty taste.

Lemon Essential OilUse Lemon essential oil:

  • To eliminate odors. Diffuse this refreshing and energizing scent anywhere musty smells tend to arise. Put 2–3 drops on a cotton ball and place at the bottom of the diaper or garbage pail to keep things fresh.
  • To freshen surfaces. Add to natural household cleaners before wiping down dirty surfaces.
  • In your beauty routine. Add to skin care products to reduce the appearance of blemishes or add to conditioner or DIY hair masques to bring out hair’s natural shine.

Lemon VitalityUse Lemon Vitality:

  • In the kitchen. Create custom dressings or marinades with a few drops or substitute 1 drop of Lemon Vitality for 1 teaspoon of lemon juice in your baking.
  • As a supplement. Add 1–2 drops to a vegetarian gel capsule and take as needed.
  • On the go. Before you head out, add 2–3 drops of Lemon Vitality to your glass water bottle.

Thieves and Thieves Vitality - Young Living

Naturally occurring constituents: limonene, eucalyptol

We love our proprietary Thieves blend so much that we put it in everything (almost). But really, you’ll come to associate Thieves’ spicy, warm scent with its versatility and many uses.

Thieves Vitality makes a great supplement. When taken internally, Thieves Vitality essential oil can help support overall wellness and includes powerful antioxidants.*

Thieves Essential OilUse Thieves essential oil:

  • To refresh musty carpets. Combine 5 drops of Thieves with 1 cup of baking soda and let the mixture sit overnight. Sprinkle over carpets and allow to sit for 10–15 minutes before vacuuming.
  • To eliminate odor. Add a few drops of Thieves essential oil blend to your dishwasher before running.
  • To create an environment of peace and security. Diffuse wherever you need its comforting aroma.

Thieves VitalityUse Thieves Vitality:

  • As a supplement. Add 1–2 drops to a vegetarian gel capsule and take daily or as needed.
  • For flavor. Swirl in a drop to your morning juice, tea, or NingXia Red®.

Peppermint and Peppermint Vitality Essential Oils - Young Living

Peppermint Essential OilUse Peppermint essential oil:

  • For post-workout massage. Dilute a few drops of Peppermint in V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex for a refreshing massage.
  • To diffuse. Blend with Lavender and Rosemary for an uplifting aroma.

  • In your cleaning routine. Add to DIY cleaners or add a few drops to a sponge for a refreshing, clean scent.

Peppermint VitalityUse Peppermint Vitality:

  • As a supplement. Add 1–2 drops to a vegetarian gel capsule and take as needed.

Peppermint is one of the oils I use on a daily basis.

  • Pam

I was told that the vitality and regular oils were the same thing – only label is different for FDA purposes. So doesn’t that mean these are only 3 oils that do everything? Confused..

    • Hello Pam. Sorry for any confusion. Essential oils and Vitality oils contain the same essential oil. However, Vitality is labeled for dietary use and the regular essential oil is labeled for topical and aromatic use. The designation of the two products allows you to share all the ways to use an essential oil in the correct way. Hope that helps!

  • Doris

What is the difference between the vitality EO’s and the orininal ones? Are the ingrediences the same?

    • Hey Doris. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Essential oils and Vitality oils contain the same essential oil. However, Vitality is labeled for dietary use and the regular essential oil is labeled for topical and aromatic use. The designation of the two products allows you to share all the ways to use an essential oil in the correct way. Thanks for stopping by with your question.

  • Samantha Wendt

I use Thieves in my own homemade cleaner. Can’t use much of YL’s products besides oils due to corn or other allergy in our family being in the product.

Purification…put it in my cleaner sometimes. I also will put a drop on each foot to keep the bugs away.

  • Elizabeth

I purchased Vitality Essential oil at my pharmacy. I also bought a spray bottle and was told I could use it as a room spray or on bed linens. I can’t find anywhere the ratio of the oil to water(?) or whatever one mixes it with. Please give advice. Thanks

    • Hi Elizabeth, Vitality oils are labeled for use as a dietary supplement to be ingested. Regular Essential Oils would be used for topical or aromatic. You can use topical/aromatic essential oils in a spray with distilled water. The amount of oils will be more personal preference. We recommend starting with a few drops and increasing until you find the strength of scent you wish to use on your linen. Thanks for stopping by!

  • Karen Prokash

I have a question about the lemon or lemon vitality…. I am drinking 1/4 cup lemon juice each day at Dr. request for kidney stone prevention….could I replace that lemon juice with one of the YLEO Lemon or Lemon Vitality…. and about how many drops…..

    • Young Living

Hi Karen, We recommend following the label directions for usage on your Lemon Vitality. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any information regarding using the product in a manner other than what is indicated on the label. We suggest consulting with your primary healthcare provider for recommendations for your specific needs. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Lemon Oil is my personal “Swiss Army Knife”! Whether I’m diffusing it, putting Vitality in my glass water bottle with ice cold water, or using it to clean stuck on grease on my cook stove. I love this oil so much! And the smell is amazing! 🙂

    • Barb

Young Living, there is so much truth of how our senses react to certain smells, I’ve spent many years in the Rocky Mts. But live in Washington State. I’ve always wanted to capture the scents of the forests up where we live off and on, well I was introduced to cedar wood essential oil and I was back there. I Love the products and will be one of your loyal fans, Barb

  • Molly L.

I use Frankincense like no other. It is in many different blends and is great for a relaxing area.

  • Khristina S

Stress Away is a MUST. It would be a very sad day if this ever goes out of stock.

  • Julie

So the 100% therapeutic-grade can still be ingested safely?

    • Young Living

Hi Julie, The Vitality™ line of oils is the same 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils for which Young Living has become known. The Vitality line has been created so that members can now draw clear distinction between topical/aromatic use and dietary use. This should drastically widen the communication opportunities for Young Living essential oils moving forward.

  • Linda Wickman

Early-on YL training informed us that all YL essential oils were safe to ingest. Has this changed with the introduction of the Vitality EO line? What exactly is the difference between the topical/aromatic regular YLEO and the newer YLEO Vitality oils? Has there been a change in quality? I think this is the crux of the previous questions and could be answered with a bit more clarity. We would want to be able to provide a clearer explanation to others.
I have a very large selection of YL essential oils and would appreciate knowing if it is necessary to change my ordering habits.

    • Jackie

It is EXACTLY the same product in both bottles! It was just something that had to be done per FDA regulations. If you were comfortable injesting before, then by all mean, carry on!

      • Lovely1

Thank you for this Jackie. It seems as though you are saying the same thing the moderator is saying, but straight to the point. New to YL Family.

  • Susan

I use peppermint in my USB diffuser at work. It helps keep me alert. I’ve even gotten some nice comments from my co-workers.

  • Linda

    Lemon and Lavender

  • Stefani

Lavender for EVERYTHING. For everything else, peppermint or thieves.

  • Michelle

I use Lavender for so many things. Everything skin!! Whether it is to sooth after a day in the sun, putting it in a blend for my hair, or to maintain the integrity of the skin, I love Lavender! Oh, and did I mention how it helps my whole family relax at night when we diffuse it at bedtime?

  • WHY did you not include Lavender & Lavender Vitality in this post?! That’s the TRUE Swiss Army Knife of oils 😉

  • Belinda

Peppermint Vitslity is a great size for my purse. I also like Citrus Fresh, Lavender and DiGize! I love all my oils .

  • Georgia Watson

So many are so versatile hard to pick one

  • Melinda gould

Lavander seems to be my go to for everything. For calming at night time. Or soothing a tummy during the day. It can even go in my natural cleaning products, like my laundry soap and dish soap. I love it!

    • Yes, Lavendar in my diffuser at night, puts me right back to sleep. It is definitely one of the oils that can be used for so many things. It is great for skin care also.

  • What is the difference between the ‘base product’ and the ‘vitality’ product. Lemon and Lemon Vitality – is it just a difference in the name or is there some other difference?

    • Young Living

Hi Carol, Our essential oils have been displaying labels that distinguish the products intended as a dietary supplement and those intended to be used for topical application or aromatic use. This labeling did not reflect any changes to the constituents or benefits of our essential oils. With that being said the Vitality line of oils is the same 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils for which Young Living has become known. The Vitality line has been created so that members can now draw clear distinction between topical/aromatic use and dietary use.

This is still confusing. If there is “no difference” why should there be a distinction between the two?

        • Young Living

Hi Mary, Young Living® had recently made some changes to the instruction panel on our essential oil labels. These changes where made to align our labels with FDA regulations that state a product cannot be labeled for use as a dietary supplement AND for topical or aromatic use, both could not be on the same label. We hope this helps!

          • Sheila

Thank you, this answers the “why”.

  • Nicole

This was an awesome post!! I just wanted to say that I LOVE lemon in my daily beauty routine! I add a drop or two to my moisturizer and found it has given my skin a wonderful, healthy glow 🙂 Lemon is for sure one of my favorites!

  • These are three of our favorites. We use lemon in our water, and peppermint in our coffee every day. Lemon was my “surprise” oil when I got my starter kit. I had no idea I needed it! Thieves is on our dryer balls each load of laundry. No more walking around and sleeping in chemicals.

    • Amy Mueller

Great idea! I would not have thought to put EO on my dryer balls. Thanks!

  • Donna Ervin

Clearly the vitality versions are safe to ingest, are they also equally effective to their regular oil versions diffused or to clean with?

    • Young Living

My multi use essential oil is lavender. I use it to relax myself at night. I do use it with noghtly moisturizer as well as on my cuticles. I diffuse it for a gppd nights rest.

  • Mary Kay Joseph

My grandson has his first flag football game at 1 that day. I am interested in the peppermint oil.

  • Stephanie Lopardo

Does anyone have any idea when Sleepesesses will be back in stock

    • Young Living

Hi Stephanie, We are sorry to inform you that, at this time, we do not have an estimated time as to when this item will be in stock. We realize that this is an inconvenience to our members, and we assure you that we are working very diligently to bring this item back in stock as soon as we can. • I would love to see SleepEssence come back in stock too!

  • maxine

Thieves is my go to oil for cleaning my house and my body!

  • Lori Andersen

Purification, I use it in the diffuser, on dryer balls in place of fabric softener sheets or liquid. Put a few drops in a spray bottle and top off with water, and you have air, carpet & furniture freshener.

  • Cindy Bren

When YL distinguishes between regular oils and Vitality oils, it would certainly appear that there is a difference between the two. Can someone explain the difference to me? I was under the impression they were the same, but once again, I’m now doubting that. This is confusing!

    • Young Living

Hi Cindy, The Vitality line of oils is the same 100% therapeutic-grade essential oils for which Young Living has become known. The Vitality line has been created so that members can now draw clear distinction between topical/aromatic use and dietary use. • Bev Ramsey

I am new to oils and I also find the 2 confusing. The Vitality line is safe to ingest and the others are not all safe to be ingested?

        • Young Living

Hi Bev, We would love to help you with your question. Young Living® had recently made some changes to the instruction panel on our essential oil labels. • Giovana

I love these oils listed! I would have to add Lavender to my personal “Swiss Army knife list”
