Grapefruit Essential Oil

(Citrus paradisi)

We cold press Grapefruit essential oil from the peels of the fresh fruit for a citrusy oil with the bright aroma of a grapefruit orchard. It’s this sweet, invigorating scent that associates the essential oil with feelings of joy, satisfaction, and playfulness. Not only is Grapefruit a wonderful essential oil to diffuse, but it’s also a great addition to DIY skin care products. Combine it in a salt body scrub with other skin-toning essential oils—such as Lemon and Juniper—for a home spa experience that gives your skin a smooth-looking glow.

FAQs

FAQs

Q: How many grapefruits does it take to make one 15-ml bottle?
  • A: Each grapefruit produces a different amount of essential oil, so it is difficult to say how many are needed to produce each bottle of oil.
Q: Do Young Living’s citrus oils oxidize and expire quickly?
  • A: Young Living’s 100% pure essential oils do not expire and will maintain their integrity, efficacy, and properties almost indefinitely. This is provided they are stored properly in a dark-glass bottle, upright, and tightly sealed; away from UV light; and in cool temperatures.
Q. Does this grapefruit essential oil contain nootkatone?
A. The sesquiterpene ketone nootkatone is found in trace amounts. Testing at the Young Living analytical laboratory has shown that nootkatone levels are at the acceptable level or better.
Q. Is grapefruit essential oil extracted from fruit that has seeds?
A. Yes, the fruit from which we extract our essential oil does have seeds. Our oil is non-GMO.
Q. Is the grapefruit white or pink?
A. We use Citrus paradisi, which can be white, pink, or red fruit. We use white for our essential oil. (Mary Lou J. - September 2014)
Q: Are Young Living citrus essential oils from ripened fruits?
  • A: The citrus fruits are fully ripened before they are used for our citrus essential oils.
