Young Living Recaps First International Essential Oils Day

July 31, 2018
Members raise more than $235,000 to help educate disadvantaged children at the Young Living Academy in Ecuador
Lehi, Utah – July 31, 2018 – Young Living Essential Oils, the world leader in essential oils, raised more than $238,000 during the first International Essential Oils Day (#IEOD) on Wednesday, July 11, 2018. During the day-long celebration, 5 percent of all sales was donated to the Young Living Academy in Chongon, Ecuador; and 41,441 Young Living members from 66 countries placed more than 45,000 orders to contribute to the donation amount.

The day also raised awareness about sustainability processes that are good for the planet, like Young Living’s Seed to Seal® program that consistently strives to protect the planet and ensure the highest quality standards for its essential oil products. On this special day dedicated to these gifts from nature, Young Living asked participants to plant a tree or other botanical in order to support environmental conservation, try a new essential oil, or share their favorite essential oil with a friend. #IEOD activities generated more than 2 million impressions throughout the day.

Young Living established International Essential Oils Day on the birthday of its founder, the late D. Gary Young, to pay tribute to the pioneer of the modern-day essential oils movement. To honor Gary’s passion for philanthropy and his purpose-driven spirit, Young Living donated 5 percent of its global sales on July 11 to the Young Living Academy in Ecuador, which was established by The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation. These funds will also help launch the University Sponsorship Program to help Young Living Academy graduates pay for university tuition and fees, transportation, and other necessary expenses.

“D. Gary Young started the Foundation at the Young Living Academy; and it has been the heart, soul, and inspiration for our members’ generosity,” said Jared Turner, president and chief operating officer of Young Living Essential Oils. “Our passionate members paid tribute to Gary’s memory and legacy by raising more than $238,000 to benefit the students of the Academy. It’s a tribute to their drive to make the world a better place for everyone.”

Through The D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation, Young Living’s members and employees travel around the world to work hand-in-hand with local underserved communities to empower and improve circumstances. The Foundation was established in 2009 with the building of the Young Living Academy in Chongon for the children of Young Living farm workers and others in the community. To date, 58 students have graduated from the Academy, boasting a 100 percent graduation rate in contrast to the local graduation average of 20 percent.
