Humility 60-day challenge
As part of our Blend of the Month challenge, we invite our community to focus on a different intention (and its associated essential oil blend) with us for two months, then share their experience. We started with gratitude, then abundance, belief, and highest potential. Now we’re switching our focus to humility.
The challenge draws inspiration from the legacy of Gary Young, who discovered that blending certain essential oils could unlock far greater benefits than using them individually. His creations were aromatic companions to use while people worked toward emotional and personal transformation, with each blend corresponding to a specific intention.
If you’re ready to explore how living with humility can open the door to growth and deeper connection, you’re in the right place. Keep reading to find everything you need to know to join us.
What does it mean to live with humility?
Humility isn’t weakness or lack of confidence. It isn’t about playing small or valuing yourself less. Rather, it’s about recognizing your strengths while remaining open to learning and growth.
When we live with humility, we remember that we are part of the earth—and in doing so, we reconnect with who we are and our place in the natural world. As Gary Young said, “Having humility helps us heal ourselves and our earth.”
Humility as connection to nature
In Charlotte’s Web, the eponymous spider defines humility as being “low to the ground.” At Young Living, we like that definition, though we might rephrase it as being “close to the earth.”
As regenerative organic farmers, being close to the earth is part of who we are. The esteemed neurologist Oliver Sacks said, “The desire to interact with, manage, and tend nature is deeply instilled in us…The effects of nature’s qualities on health are not only spiritual and emotional, but physical and neurological.”
Humility invites us to recognize the interconnected nature of all things and accept our responsibility to the world around us, which in turn, helps us grow into who we’re meant to be.
Humility as a place to learn
When we are humble, we listen more deeply, we manage our emotional state, and we learn with openness. To have ears to hear and eyes to see is to have humility. And the more we learn, the better we can serve others. Each of us has unique gifts that only we can share with the world. When we are humble and open to learning, it doesn’t dim those gifts—it enhances them!
Release the need to be perfect
It might seem counterintuitive, but we grow strong through our humility. Humility is a healing space. Rather than pressuring yourself to be perfect, say: “I am learning, I am vulnerable, I am human. And so is everyone around me.” Say this as you inhale the scent of Humility™ essential oil blend. Then place one drop over your heart to anchor your intention to learn with openness, listen deeply, and share your unique gifts with the world.
Tip: If you don’t have Humility essential oil blend, you can use any of the single oils in it.
