Ocotea Essential Oil

Ocotea essential oil is extracted from the stem and leaves of the ocotea tree in Ecuador, and is related to the cinnamon species. This essential oil has an aroma that is different from any common cinnamon. Ocotea has the highest level of alpha-humulene of any essential oil. Ocotea has a complex aroma that is known for its skin-cleansing properties.

Applications
  • Diffuse Ocotea with Orange or Tangerine to create a warm, comforting environment.
  • Inhale or apply it to wrists, neck, and ear lobes during meditation.
  • Add a few drops to your facial cleanser or moisturizer or apply as a spot treatment.
Label Directions
Topical: Dilute 1 drop with 4 drops of V-6™ or olive oil. Test on small area of skin on the underside of arm and apply to desired area as needed.
Aromatic:
Diffuse up to 10 minutes 3 times daily.
Cautions: Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, nursing, taking medication or have a medical condition, consult a health care practitioner prior to use. Avoid direct sunlight or UV rays to application area for up to 12 hours.

Product Background
Ocotea is distilled from the leaves of Ocotea quixos, a large tree found in the Amazon wilderness on the west side of the Andes Mountains. Used historically for more than 500 years to flavor cakes and sweets, ocotea it is commonly referred to by the native people throughout Ecuador as false canela, or false cinnamon. Ocotea essential oil has a warm, spicy aroma that is similar to but more delicate than that of Cinnamon Bark.
