Young Living donates Christmas trees from the Highland Flats Tree Farm and Distillery

Naples, Idaho – December 11, 2019 – Young Living, the world leader in essential oils, recently joined forces with the Naples, Idaho, fire department to serve the community of this scenic mountain town. With the donation of freshly cut Christmas trees from the Young Living Highland Flats Tree Farm and Distillery, the partnership promises to help make a new community center and food pantry a reality and to deliver happier holidays for each of the town’s families, regardless of their economic situation.

Located in the northernmost reaches of Idaho, Naples is celebrated for its mountain scenery and majestic forests. In fact, it was the area’s scenery that initially attracted Young Living’s late founder D. Gary Young on his search for locations for a conifer farm that ultimately became the Highland Flats Tree Farm and Distillery.

From building schools to advocating for fair labor practices, Young Living has a long history of helping the communities that house its farms and offices—and Naples is no different. Young Living, with the guidance of Highland Flats Tree Farm Manager Brett Packer, has resolved to step in and help make a positive impact in the community.

“It was exciting to partner up with our local fire department and join forces to make a difference,” Packer said. “We knew that a new community center and food pantry is needed, so we started by focusing on that need. Where Young Living is already so committed to lifting the communities that we’re a part of, and we already have such an in-demand resource on hand, it seemed like a natural fit to donate these beautiful trees to help and support our community by improving the town’s facilities.”

The trees were sold on a pay-what-you-can basis during the Naples Winter Carnival from December 13-14. This annual event brings the town together and allows low-income families to bring home fresh-cut trees that fit their budgets, while others are able to make significant donations to support the community’s needs. In past years, some of these trees have sold for as much as $500. This year, the event’s proceeds topped $2,168.00, which will go toward the construction of a new community center and food bank, and to updating the fire station. These new facilities will support the community while providing improved emergency facilities that include a helicopter landing pad and full-time EMT services.

“I’m beyond thrilled at what we were able to raise,” Packer said. “I’m confident that not only can we help make the community center and upgraded fire station a reality, but we should also be able to build up the relief fund for families who lose their homes to fire.”

The winter carnival donations were supplemented by proceeds from a benefit concert held at the historic Panida Theatre in nearby Sandpoint, Idaho, on December 15. The concert was sponsored by Young Living, which also donated a 64-foot grand fir to bring the holiday spirit to Sandpoint’s town square.
