Young Living members and employees recently gathered for the 2014 Winter Harvest, bringing them closer to the distillation process and to each other! Beginning January 6, members made the trek to our Highland Flats Tree Farm, near Naples, Idaho, to participate in what has become a beloved annual Young Living tradition.
Participants played a vital role in the production of some of our signature essential oils by harvesting trees, reducing them to wood chips, then loading the chips into distillation “cookers.” Expert workers then used a special steam-distillation process to coax the precious essential oils from the wood chips, producing favorite oils such as Idaho Balsam Fir, Idaho Blue Spruce, and Western Red Cedar.
As part of Young Living’s sustainability practices, new trees will be planted in place of the harvested trees during the annual Spring Planting.
Being a part of the harvest gives members the opportunity to experience, up close, why the patented Seed to Seal® process matters so much in the production of pure, powerful essential oils and oil-infused products.
Many Winter Harvest attendees also witnessed the ceremonial ribbon-cutting for a brand-new, technologically advanced distillery on February 15. The new facility uses automated computer systems to monitor and control the temperature and steam output during distillation. This innovative approach highlights Young Living’s continued dedication to using cutting-edge methods to produce the highest quality products in the industry!
