Young Living and saving French lavender<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

Young Living\u2019s relationship with this beloved essential oil goes back to 1985, when Young Living Founder D.\u00a0Gary Young brought lavender seeds back from France\u00a0so he could grow his own. France boasts a rich, 100-year history of growing very fragrant lavender.\u00a0Gary began growing lavender on a quarter-acre lot in\u00a0Spokane, Washington, USA, in 1988. Years later, when\u00a0disease killed off much of France\u2019s unique lavender\u00a0species, called population lavender or Lavandula\u00a0angustifolia, Gary brought back seeds to help restore\u00a0the plant and replenish France\u2019s lavender fields.<\/p>\n<\/div>

There are many species of lavender plants, and among\u00a0them are clonal lavender and population lavender. But\u00a0how different can they be? Let us list the ways.<\/p>\n

When you think of clonal lavender<\/strong><\/span>, remember that it\u2019s:<\/p>\n

  • Produced from stem cuttings<\/li>\n
  • Uniform in shape and size<\/li>\n
  • Incapable of diversity or evolution<\/li>\n
  • The preferred plant for many lavender farms<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Population lavender<\/strong><\/span> differs from clonal because it:<\/p>\n

    • Is grown from seeds<\/li>\n
    • Has unique and subtle fragrance differences<\/li>\n
    • Grows into unique sizes and shapes<\/li>\n
    • Produces essential oil with a delightful variety of aromas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      When Gary brought population lavender seeds back from France, he invested in local farmers to produce and grow the best lavender available.
