When your schedule is filled with helping and taking care of everyone else, it’s easy to forget about your own needs. Thankfully, it only takes a few steps to create a night that’s all your own! Our three tips will help you plan a much-deserved night to yourself.
Step 1: Plan Ahead
You’ve heard it before—fail to plan, plan to fail! Taking time to care for yourself is no different. Pencil your special night into your calendar and treat it like the priority it is. You wouldn’t cancel on a friend in need, so give yourself the same respect.
After you have it booked, make any necessary arrangements. Get a sitter for the kids or have your spouse take them out for a few hours. Take care of household to-dos and grab any special treats you need, whether it be a new book or some indulgent snacks. Try your best to eliminate as many distractions as possible so you can focus on just yourself for the night.
Step 2: Set the Scene
While everyone’s perfect pampering looks different, the goal is to create the environment that’s most relaxing for you. A great place to start is playing calming music, dimming the lights, lighting candles, and diffusing your favorite essential oil or blend.
Want to really indulge? Invest in a new diffuser to make your experience extra spa-like. Choose a simple and chic style like the Dewdrop™ or Desert Mist™ Diffuser, pick up the luxurious Aria™ Ultrasonic Diffuser, or look through all our diffusers to find your perfect match. Whichever diffuser you use, it’s just as important that you diffuse the perfect aroma during your relaxing night. We’re fans of classics such as Lavender, German Chamomile, Cedarwood, Jasmine, and Ylang Ylang.
Step 2: Relax!
Once your prep work is done, it’s time to treat yourself! Settle in with a good book, a TV show you’ve been wanting to catch up on, or a favorite hobby. Need some help planning the perfect night? Check out our ideas below, all infused with the goodness of essential oils.
Spa Bath Treatment
Unwind in a spa-like atmosphere from the comfort of your home. We love bath bonuses like face masks, bath salts, a captivating book, bath gel, and body lotion.
YL Tip: Apply body lotion to damp skin to lock in moisture.
Our top picks:
Relaxing Facial
Get an at-home facial in just four steps! The basis of beautiful skin starts with a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer, and you can add some extra oomph with a gentle exfoliator. With the additional attention, you’ll experience beyond-skin-deep pampering.
YL Tip: Try a DIY stress-reducing facial massage.
With your eyes closed, massage the sides of your jaw in large, circular motions. Create a path past the sides of your mouth, along your nostrils, and over your cheekbones. Eventually move to your forehead and temples. Tension accumulates in this area, so spend some extra time here. For about one minute, work from both temples to the middle of your forehead and back to the temples.
Our top picks:
Pedicure Pick-Me-Up
Feel great from your head to your toes. A DIY pedicure is easy, and it can save you a trip to the salon. Plus, a little time spent on a pedicure keeps your feet looking great for days or weeks!
YL Tip: Take a look at our Three Simple Steps to Fab Feet blog for ideas to exfoliate, moisturize, and pamper your feet.
Our top picks:
Candles, bath with Epsom salts and lavender YL essential oils, glass of wine and soft piano music playing
As a momma, I don’t have lots of me time, but I’m trying to make it more a priority! I plan to read a good book while diffusing Lavender and wearing StressAway!!! :)
I’ll turn on some Flamenco music and put a few drops of my coveted Valor in the the diffuser. I’ll make a Bergamot sugar scrub for feet and apply then mix some Bergamot with Epsom salt and add to bath water along with few drops of Peace Evening shower gel. Doesn’t that sound relaxing? Aaahhhhhh.

What a great set of products for a giveaway!
A tea tree foot soak sounds pretty great right about now!
I would love to spend the evening with my husband giving each other back massages with our favorite oils.
I set a weekly date on Thursday nights that’s just for me to continue to grow personally and emotionally. I use oils to encourage the emotions I am growing in and I relax! I love it!
I might take a relaxing bath.
My husband and I haven’t had a date night, or even an evening together in two years due to getting pregnant back to back. (my girls are 11 mo apart and I am busy!) I am just getting my second onto a bottle so that we can plan to have our date nights back.
My first step is to pamper myself with a new dress and shoes to match. I will then take an uninterrupted shower, with my Copaiba Vanilla Shampoo/Conditioner, my lavender oatmeal soap, followed by a mani/pedi, a quick curl of my hair and then top it off with a bit of JOY essential oil (my go-to).
We then plan to indulge in a peaceful, hot dinner followed by a super overpriced dessert! =)
Definitely a nice long bath with some diy essential oils. Hopefully I can talk the hubby into a massage and diffuse some ylang ylang. =)
Things are always busy in this house. I Love to diffuse Lavender and Stress Away, relax with a glass of wine and catch up on my shows. Once a month Husband and I try to have a date night without the kids. Just us time. Its so important!
Bergamot is one of my favorite oils and I love adding it to a warm foot soak after a long day!
I need to try some of these! Definitely need some me time!
An important task for myself to complete prior to any pampering is to schedule it. It sounds so basic but for most mothers it’s hard for us to find the time or make the time. It’s important for us to do so we can continue taking care of others. Pampering is not a selfish indulgence.
I love a nice soak in the tub with some homemade bath salts! Lavender and Stress Away are my 2 of my favorites.
Would love to win!
I love to do a bath with my favorite oils and lotion, at the end of my day. So relaxing.
I will use my new EO’s for a much needed facial and a super relaxing bath. I am still learning so much.
Love the tips for the toes!
I will catch up on Once Upon a Time and have a little marathon and maybe throw a little Yoga in there too;)
Have a smoothie and add a little vitality oils. Plus, have my diffuser going that night!
Oh. boy, could I use some of this! Alone time is hard to come by, especially for relaxing! I would definitely set up my diffuser with some Frankincense, Lemongrass, and Copaiba essential oils. Put on some relaxing music. TURN OFF THE PHONE! Take a hot shower with my shower gel and moisturize afterwards with coconut oil, Frankincense and Tea Tree oil. Then read a inspirational/motivational book to plan for the next day’s activities! Sounds good already!
Hope I win! I need relaxation!
I’m going to get a pedicure to rejuvenate my feet and legs that I stand on all day😃
Love Epsom salt baths with essential oils. Turn some calming music on and just relax!
I need a pedicure in the worst way, would love to have one, should just break out my oils and give myself one!
I love making lavender bath salts, and diffusing lavender at night!
I like to take a warm bath with clary sage, lavender and cedarwood and then turn on the diffuser
I really like that facial idea! That sounds like a great way to treat myself :)
I LOVE diffusing stress away or lavender and then dimming the light in the bathroom and sinking into a tub of lavender-infused salts! And if the workout that day was tough, I will also use some deep relief.
Love oils
I think I need to try all of these ideas — slowly, one at a time… :)
This is so important! So many people do not take the time to take care of themselves. I know I’m guilty of it, other’s comfort is always a priority, and I’m trying to change that – I can’t be at my best to help them if I’m not taken care of too. My diffusers definitely help with that – I don’t know how I ever lived without them!
Ahh a new diffuser with some lavender and lavender lotion while I take a rest on the couch when my little one is napping. 45 minutes of reboot relaxation!
My favorite pampering things include relaxing foot soaks with Lavender essential oil and epsom salts. Smells incredible and feels great!
I love my time by myself. I love to take time to pamper my feet. I feel so much more put together when my feet feel good.
I have a subscription to a dayspa for a massage or facial once a month. It has become a part of my budget so I know at least one day a month I have me time. I take my favorite oil of the day for aromatherapy and play my favorite native american flute cd on the way there to relax me.
I love these tips! “Me time” is so important for us.
Being a mom of a 2 year toddler and currently 37 weeks pregnant this really excites me. I often ask my hubby to plan his day so on a specific evening I can plug in with my team or accomplish some business tasks I’ve been putting off, but I skip out on the the pampering of self. I’m lucky if I wash my face more than 2 minutes.
I know taking care of self is important, not only for me but for the whole family and others around me. So thank you for sharing this as it is a reminder to set aside some time for me. Going to talk to the hubby now. LOL
I have always been a bath girl. Its such a wonderful way to wind down and renew peace after a long day. I love making my own bath salts recipes tailored to my specific needs.
This article gives perfect instructions to pamper yourself! Self-care is crucial, especially with busy lives everyone has. Thanks YL!
I think I’ll pamper myself with a lavender-oatmeal bath soak! Sounds so relaxing and I love lavender! 😊🌱
I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE some “me” time without household, child or social media distractions. Having the quiet time to focus on reading a book would be divine! It feels like once the kids are in bed, all I want to do is lay in bed, catch up on the latest FB news and fall asleep in the process. I am going to try scheduling a “me night” later this week!
I love the dew drop diffuser – it sets a spa like atmosphere for a special pamper yourself evening. I would love to win this package.
