When your schedule is filled with helping and taking care of everyone else, it’s easy to forget about your own needs. Thankfully, it only takes a few steps to create a night that’s all your own! Our three tips will help you plan a much-deserved night to yourself.
Step 1: Plan Ahead
You’ve heard it before—fail to plan, plan to fail! Taking time to care for yourself is no different. Pencil your special night into your calendar and treat it like the priority it is. You wouldn’t cancel on a friend in need, so give yourself the same respect.
After you have it booked, make any necessary arrangements. Get a sitter for the kids or have your spouse take them out for a few hours. Take care of household to-dos and grab any special treats you need, whether it be a new book or some indulgent snacks. Try your best to eliminate as many distractions as possible so you can focus on just yourself for the night.
Step 2: Set the Scene
While everyone’s perfect pampering looks different, the goal is to create the environment that’s most relaxing for you. A great place to start is playing calming music, dimming the lights, lighting candles, and diffusing your favorite essential oil or blend.
Want to really indulge? Invest in a new diffuser to make your experience extra spa-like. Choose a simple and chic style like the Dewdrop™ or Desert Mist™ Diffuser, pick up the luxurious Aria™ Ultrasonic Diffuser, or look through all our diffusers to find your perfect match. Whichever diffuser you use, it’s just as important that you diffuse the perfect aroma during your relaxing night. We’re fans of classics such as Lavender, German Chamomile, Cedarwood, Jasmine, and Ylang Ylang.
Step 2: Relax!
Once your prep work is done, it’s time to treat yourself! Settle in with a good book, a TV show you’ve been wanting to catch up on, or a favorite hobby. Need some help planning the perfect night? Check out our ideas below, all infused with the goodness of essential oils.
Spa Bath Treatment
Unwind in a spa-like atmosphere from the comfort of your home. We love bath bonuses like face masks, bath salts, a captivating book, bath gel, and body lotion.
YL Tip: Apply body lotion to damp skin to lock in moisture.
Our top picks:
Relaxing Facial
Get an at-home facial in just four steps! The basis of beautiful skin starts with a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer, and you can add some extra oomph with a gentle exfoliator. With the additional attention, you’ll experience beyond-skin-deep pampering.
YL Tip: Try a DIY stress-reducing facial massage.
With your eyes closed, massage the sides of your jaw in large, circular motions. Create a path past the sides of your mouth, along your nostrils, and over your cheekbones. Eventually move to your forehead and temples. Tension accumulates in this area, so spend some extra time here. For about one minute, work from both temples to the middle of your forehead and back to the temples.
Our top picks:
Pedicure Pick-Me-Up
Feel great from your head to your toes. A DIY pedicure is easy, and it can save you a trip to the salon. Plus, a little time spent on a pedicure keeps your feet looking great for days or weeks!
YL Tip: Take a look at our Three Simple Steps to Fab Feet blog for ideas to exfoliate, moisturize, and pamper your feet.

I pamper myself by taking a luxurious Epsom salt/essential oil bath and diffusing lavender and whatever other oils I feel like mixing in. Love my Young Living oils!
I love this and can’t wait to start setting my “me date night”.
This sounds nice, but I’m a newbe and don’t have most of the products yet. But I do have lavender and stress away so I diffuse those at night. That’s my closes thing to a spa treatment for me.
I’m definitely going to have a spa bath! Thx for these tips 😃
I take care of my parents, husband and myself 24/7….I would love to have the Bergamot Essential Oil to use …I have just joined this week, I am so excited to see where this leads….
I think the pedicure sounds heavenly with my favorite oil diffusing.
All of this is much needed for every woman alive!
I actually pampered myself with a soaking bath just the other morning! Now I am usually a shower person, but that morning I just felt the need to linger in a bath. So I prepared my epsom salts, baking soda to which I added 5 drops Rosemary, 4 drops Lavender, and 3 drops Northern Lights Black Spruce. I have an ongoing love-affair with these awesome oils!!!
I love soaking in a bath, watching a movie or tv show on my Kindle. I love to add epsom salts, baking soda, and Lavender and Frankincense eo’s to my bath! Peppermint vitality hot chocolate is a favorite beverage for me to sip on while enjoying my bath!
I will pamper myself with a relaxing bath of homemade Lavender bath-salts.
My me time is planned for tonight…I have to pamper myself because starting tomorrow we will be in the great outdoors until next week. First filling the garden tub with a nice homemade DIY bath soak made from Epsom salts, Baking soda and Young Livings Lavender Essential Oil. My Rainstone diffuser will go with me and have Purification and Joy in it to promote a spa like scent. To really set the scene for me I will be listening to the music from Phantom of the Opera as I soak away and tension and set the tone for a great nights sleep. The battery operated candles are all set to go in all the candle holders to give me a nice relaxing low light setting. I can not wait to get my lavender bath and shower gel with this months Essential Rewards order. That would have really put tonight over the top.
I love a good pedicure! Especially a DIY one with YLEOs!
Love the idea of scheduling the time, otherwise we don’t take the time. I am going to try the Fab feet, maybe the Spa bath treatment.
I pamper myself by taking long walks on a quiet country road with my Great Danes. I breathe in fresh air, see God’s beautiful nature, enjoy the watching my Danes play. It is truly relaxing!
This is my birthday and I’ve made it all about taking care of me, something I don’t often get to do. So I’ve been diffusing more during the day. I typically only diffuse at night – not sure why only then. I’ve also started on my summer reading list. I love to read but I’m in bed pretty early and my days are full. So making time for baths (I’m a shower girl), reading and other little luxuries that would mean me slowing down and making just a bit more room in my schedule, are usually not on my list of things to do. BUT THIS MONTH, :) I am slowing things way down.
I think we all need to be better at taking time to take care of ourselves. Thanks for the great tips!! I can’t wait to try a few :)
I will pamper myself tonight with my Orange Blossom facial wash followed by Boswellia Wrinkle Cream and fall into bed with Lavender essential oil sprinkled on my pillow, Cedarwood and Ylang Ylang in diffuser and a good book!
Wednesday nights are always my “me time” to lock the bathroom door and soak in a nice essential oil bath with a ginormous bowl of chocolate ice cream.
Mhhh, a quite bath with a peaceful blend of essential oils and early to bed! This momma needs sleep 😍
One of my favorite ways to relax is get the diffuser going with something floral, find a comfortable spot, and read.
This sounds amazing! I wish I could do this every night. At least, I can start planning now (especially when my kids go to bed)! Thanks for the tips!
Lavender shampoo and conditioner, Peppermint face scrub, lavender bath salts, diffuser with Stress Away. ❤️
An Epsom salt bath with Stress Away EO sounds lovely.
I would so love a pedicure spa night, was just thinking of a blend of oils that I could put into a foot soak! I hate painting my own toes though because I’m terrible at it, so I’d have to see if someone would paint them for me :). I would diffuse some Stress Away, turn on Pandora to my favorite station. Ah, bliss!
Fantastic! I soooo need this!
I like to put Christmas spirit in the diffuser by my chair and listen to music or audio book and crochet. I consider this me time and it really helps.
Great idea’s for relaxing . Sure would like to win 😊
A facial sounds great.

I will put lavender and stress way in diffuser, shut blinds and lay on couch as I take it all in. Alone. Me. Relax.
Going to take your advise YL and make ME a huge priority. Ond day of pampering! It’s on the calendar so it’s going to happen. (I feel like it’s my Birthday, but it’s not). Exciting!!

My life is crazy busy with a full time job, full time school, and sharing my oils with everyone. I need to carve an entire evening for myself. I use my oils multiple times a day and I take essential oil baths with varying mixtures but I have never diffused at the same time. I will have to try that. Thank you for such a great reminder to care for ourselves in ALL areas.
Love these tips! I personally love to pamper myself with Joy every morning, sandalwood moisturizer on my face, frankincense, cedarwood, and clary sage in my diffuser at night, and lavender with epsom salt in my bath. Divine!!
Diffusing lavender and having a nice spa bath!
I’m hoping to try a nice relaxing bath with Epsom salt and some oils
