When your schedule is filled with helping and taking care of everyone else, it’s easy to forget about your own needs. Thankfully, it only takes a few steps to create a night that’s all your own! Our three tips will help you plan a much-deserved night to yourself.
Step 1: Plan Ahead
You’ve heard it before—fail to plan, plan to fail! Taking time to care for yourself is no different. Pencil your special night into your calendar and treat it like the priority it is. You wouldn’t cancel on a friend in need, so give yourself the same respect.
After you have it booked, make any necessary arrangements. Get a sitter for the kids or have your spouse take them out for a few hours. Take care of household to-dos and grab any special treats you need, whether it be a new book or some indulgent snacks. Try your best to eliminate as many distractions as possible so you can focus on just yourself for the night.
Step 2: Set the Scene
While everyone’s perfect pampering looks different, the goal is to create the environment that’s most relaxing for you. A great place to start is playing calming music, dimming the lights, lighting candles, and diffusing your favorite essential oil or blend.
Want to really indulge? Invest in a new diffuser to make your experience extra spa-like. Choose a simple and chic style like the Dewdrop™ or Desert Mist™ Diffuser, pick up the luxurious Aria™ Ultrasonic Diffuser, or look through all our diffusers to find your perfect match. Whichever diffuser you use, it’s just as important that you diffuse the perfect aroma during your relaxing night. We’re fans of classics such as Lavender, German Chamomile, Cedarwood, Jasmine, and Ylang Ylang.
Step 2: Relax!
Once your prep work is done, it’s time to treat yourself! Settle in with a good book, a TV show you’ve been wanting to catch up on, or a favorite hobby. Need some help planning the perfect night? Check out our ideas below, all infused with the goodness of essential oils.
Spa Bath Treatment
Unwind in a spa-like atmosphere from the comfort of your home. We love bath bonuses like face masks, bath salts, a captivating book, bath gel, and body lotion.
YL Tip: Apply body lotion to damp skin to lock in moisture.
Our top picks:
Relaxing Facial
Get an at-home facial in just four steps! The basis of beautiful skin starts with a cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer, and you can add some extra oomph with a gentle exfoliator. With the additional attention, you’ll experience beyond-skin-deep pampering.
YL Tip: Try a DIY stress-reducing facial massage.
With your eyes closed, massage the sides of your jaw in large, circular motions. Create a path past the sides of your mouth, along your nostrils, and over your cheekbones. Eventually move to your forehead and temples. Tension accumulates in this area, so spend some extra time here. For about one minute, work from both temples to the middle of your forehead and back to the temples.
Our top picks:
Pedicure Pick-Me-Up
Feel great from your head to your toes. A DIY pedicure is easy, and it can save you a trip to the salon. Plus, a little time spent on a pedicure keeps your feet looking great for days or weeks!
YL Tip: Take a look at our Three Simple Steps to Fab Feet blog for ideas to exfoliate, moisturize, and pamper your feet.

I’m a newbie learning all the benefits of using essential oils. I would definitely start off by taking a luxurious bath and using my home made sugar scrubs with frankincense oil. Then I would take some time to do nothing but lay on the couch picking up a book and reading it since I never get the chance, while drinking my grapefruit vitality infused water. And of course with my lavender and diffuser going full force.
I would love any of these wonderful products so that I can make myself take the time out to relax. So necessary!
I will be using my carrot seed oil and relaxing on my raft in my pool for my me time this week. I can’t wait!
Every Sunday morning I get up extra early so that I can sit in my favorite chair on the deck with the book I am reading that week, my journal and a cup of coffee. It gives me a chance to plan out the week ahead, get recentered and enjoy some much needed quiet time before everyone else is up.
I will be pampering myself this evening by indulging in a bath with Epsom salts and either Helchrysum or White Angelica essential oils.
I plan on a spa evening for myself with homemade bath goodies. Peace & Calming bath salts, ylang ylang sugar scrub, a purification clay mask and diffusing relaxing oils!
I love the idea of scheduling the pampering or it just wont happen. Also, I need to schedule the time to clean the bathroom the day before. That way the time can be truly relaxing and not exhausted from just scrubbing the tub! A spa bath is just perfect. Epsom salts with Lavender and also some lavender and peppermint in the Home diffuser. I can’t wait to own more Young Living products so I can do more with my spa experience!
Going to do a nice bath with StressAway and Lavender Bath Salts. Will diffuse Lavender, Bergamot, and Peace & Calming in the Diffuser while bathing, and sip on some Ningxia Red, with a splash of Ninxia Zing for a refreshing spritzer. Then curl up after my bath with a book I have been trying to finish forever! Oh, and some orange vitality Chocolate Dipped Strawberries too!
Scene set with lavender in the diffuser. Pampering my skin with homemade body butter. Into bed early with a book and relaxing soundtracks playing in the background. Recipe for some peaceful and much needed zzzzzzz’s…..
I so need this! This summer has been crazy busy!
I have a 12 week old baby girl at home whom I’m nursing. My husband understands how tired I am and always surprises me with “me time”. This afternoon, he closed the curtains in our bedroom, set up my diffuser, rubbed lavender oil on me, lit candles in the bathroom, started a hot shower, put on spa music, and forced me to relax. I enjoyed a nice, calming shower followed by a face mask and a short nap. He’s wonderful and so are my Young Living oils!
Being a single mom of 9, time to myself is in very short supply. I’ve been using the YL Bath and Shower Gel to treat myself!
The experience I have had as a young living distributor since last year has changed my life. In July 2015 my husband unexpectedly died at 56 years old. I have had major health problems for years and he was my rock and my strength. I started using oils and they have helped me to find peace and balance on many hard days. Relaxing is something I have never been good at but I had to teach myself that is was something I had to do. My oils are my friend. They have helped me on the journey of trying to find a new me.
What great timing for this post. Last Friday night I set aside some me time for a nice pampering treat. I took a nice shower using lavender body wash. Shaved & then lotioned.
