If you’re like most of us at Young Living, Peppermint essential oil is already one of your favourites. Whether you’re looking for a burst of fresh fragrance, an energising early-morning scent, or an end of day cooling addition to a foot rub, a few drops of Peppermint oil always seem to do the trick. Just in case you need a few more reasons to love this minty aroma, here are 16 simple uses for Peppermint oil to try!

  1. Chill out after a long day 

Dilute 1 drop of Peppermint with 4 drops of Young Living V-6® Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex or another carrier oil; then rub on your temples, forehead or the back of your neck, avoiding eyes. You’ll feel a soothing, cooling sensation, courtesy of menthol constituents and menthyl acetate.

YL tip: Can you put Peppermint oil directly on the skin?

We recommend starting out using Peppermint essential oil diluted 1:4 with a carrier oil. If you want to use it undiluted, do a patch test of 1 drop to see how it feels on your skin. If you experience a reaction to the oil, dilute the oil with a 1:4 ratio of carrier oil and try another patch test.

  1. Your go-to Summer essential oil

Holiday booked? Pop Peppermint essential oil in your travel bag, for a soothing skin treat after a day in the sun. Simply apply a few drops of Peppermint and Lavender to aloe vera gel.

  1. Freshen carpets

Freshen old carpets by making a simple carpet powder to eliminate odours. Use 1 cup of baking soda and 20-30 drops of Peppermint essential oil. We love the purifying scent of Kunzea with Peppermint’s bright aroma.

  1. Stimulate your scalp

Add 3 drops of Peppermint essential oil to your shampoo in the morning and massage into your scalp for 2 minutes for an easy and energising way to start the day.

  1. Remix your favourite recipes

Use Peppermint Plus culinary oil to add a refreshing twist to a pitcher of lemonade.

  1. Soak in the fresh aroma

Add 5 drops of Peppermint directly to bath water and enjoy an invigorating soak. Blend with zesty Lemon, Orange or sweet Ylang Ylang for an extra burst of freshness.

Add a drop or two of Peppermint Plus culinary oil to a mug of hot water for a comforting treat. This simple infusion is ideal after a long day and is an alternative to your everyday tea or coffee.
