Does anyone have a good replacement for oxy-clean?
Hi! Is there a recipe for a liquid/spray version of this stain remover?
Hi Melody, we have not tested a recipe for a liquid/spray yet. You are welcome to try one and let us know how it works! Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you for this recipe! I can’t wait to try it.
This sounds like a great recipe , did anyone try it with the liquid form of castile soap , I see they sell peppermint , Lavender and Unscented .
Also has anyone tried this on their Carpet? I have a stain over a yr old that i’ve tried everything on and i can’t get it out 🙁
I’d just use the Thieves household cleaner and lemon, diluted a bit… without the soap. Have heard it is very effective on carpet. Obviously do a test pat on an out of the way place…
Has anyone used the dish soap instead of laundry. I need some more thieves laundry soap, but I have plenty dish soap. Thanks
Can YL just release this as a new product at the October Rally? 🙏🙏🙏
I was wondering. for the Castile soar bar. I usally use the Green beaver. It’s 90g. But there’s also the Dr. Bonner that is 5 oz (140g). Which one should I use for the receipe? 90g or 140g?? thank you
Hello Magali. You could use the Green Beaver 90 g bar of soap. Thanks for stopping by with your question!
I use purification, lavender or peppermint (depending on my mood) on my dryer balls to give my clothes a fresh scent. Citrus Fresh smells amazing in my diy laundry detergent. Can’t wait to give this laundry stick a try 🙂
Thanks for your awesome advice on how to use these oils in laundry! Glad you stopped by with your comment!
I love that you can make room deodorizers with Purification and Lemon to remove bad odors from rooms, fabrics, really anything!!
Hi. I’m anxious to try this recipe but was wondering if anyone has made a liquid stain remover. My husband & son are landscapers and frequently have large areas that are covered with grass and mud. Rubbing a stick would take me hours…lol
Karen, check out Gail’s comment a few post’s below! Sounds like that might work like a liquid stain remover…maybe as a pre-soak! I’m going to try it next time I do my husband’s work shirts!!
Where do I get thieves detergent never heard it
From Young Living!
You can get it from the virtual store. It is a great product!
Did you get some? Did you try this?
What size laundry bar ?
How many onzes ?
Hi Lynn, the size would depend on what size container you decided to add the recipe to. We recommend a deodorant size or large lip balm. It will be personal preference. Thanks for stopping by!
Hello Melinda. We have not tried a recipe using anything to replace the washing soda. However, you can try and look online to find another replacement. Sorry we couldn’t be of more help, but if you do find a great replacement when experimenting, please let us know. Thanks!
This recipe makes a lot more than what fills one deodorant container. It looks like it would fill at least 4. The directions should be modified.
Hello Jennifer. Thanks for your suggestion. The recipe depends on the size of the container you use, but this advice will be helpful to others making it with smaller containers. Thanks for stopping by!
This is quite impressive since it’s a DIY stuff. I’ll definitely try making it so I can test it out. Good work in sharing this post.
Can Thieves all purpose cleaner be used instead of the laundry soap?
Hi Sarah, Thieves® Household Cleaner can be used in your washing machine. Depending on the size of the washer, use 1-2 capfuls of Thieves® Household Cleaner with each batch. Thanks for stopping by with your question!
Hey, so the recipe says 2 T Thieves Laundry Soap but the video says 1/2 C Thieves Laundry Soap. Can you share which one is the actual measurement?
Hello Tina. The recipe and the video now both say 1/2 cup. There was a mistake when it was first posted, but it was immediately remedied, but we are so sorry for any confusion this may have caused. Thanks for stopping by and let us know how it turns out for you!
Looking forward to making and sharing this recipe with other oilers. Stain sticks are just a necessary part of the laundry, so it will be great to try this. Thanks!!
I actually just used a drop of yl lemon eo tonight. Needed to get out a grease stain on my hoodie before i put it in the washing machine. Worked like a charm!
I love this idea. Thank you for sharing. A question on the label though. I thought we were not ‘allowed’ to put Young Living on DIY products. Just want to be compliant here. Thank you for feedback.
Pam, we appreciate your concern of wanting to remain compliant. You are awesome! In this case you are fine to use the labels that we provide in our DIYs, as long as you do not sell the products and make them out to be made by Young Living. Hope that helps!
I saw somewhere you can put Thieves cleaner in a rollerball to make a stain stick. Is this true?
Hello Melissa. We can’t recall ever making that recommendation, but if it is something you have tried with success, we will do our best to pass the knowledge on. Thanks for stopping by!
Thieves laundry detergent, 5 drops lemon oil, 5 drops of purification added to every load. Citrus Fresh & Purification on my four large wool dyer balls. Fresh, clean and chemical free!!!
Is the correct amount of laundry soap 1/2 cup like in the video or 2 tablespoon like in the recipe?
Hello Michelle. There was an issue with the original recipe (it was too hard for our taste) so the video is correct. The recipe is now accurate. Sorry for any confusion and have fun experimenting with this DIY.
My favorite way to use EOs in laundry is to add lemongrass to dryer balls ….clothes and room smell amazing!
Must it be solid Castile soap? If I use liquid Castile instead, will I be making a liquid version of the stain remover stick but I can still apply it as a liquid to stain?
Hello Joyce. We only tried it with the solid Castile soap, but you are free to experiment with the liquid version. However, it would change the texture of the strain remover stick. Let us know if you try it out and how it works. Thanks!
I love using Purification or Lavender essential oils on my wool dryer balls. I just started using the Thieves Laundry Soap and love it! I’ve also used Thieves Cleaner in the laundry for stubborn blueberry stains and it got them out in one wash!! Love our products!
How do I copy and make the labels
Hello Susie. When you click on the green hyperlink, you can print it directly from there when you click on the print symbol in the upper right corner. You can print as many copies as you want from there. You can also copy the image and save it by right clicking the document. From there you can paste it into Word or another software and print. Hope that helps and thanks for stopping by!
How many deodorant containers will this make?
Hello Gretchen. It depends on the size of the containers, but it should fill up two small deodorant containers. However, you have to fill them up rather quickly because the mixture hardens and solidifies fast. Thanks for stopping by with your question.
Would this work on dark colored clothes? Would the lemon eo not take out the color from the clothes?
Hello. When we originally tried the stain remover we used it on vibrant colors and it works excellent and didn’t take out any of the colors from the clothes. We did not try it on black clothing, but we don’t imagine it being a problem. However, please let us know if you encounter any problems. Thanks for commenting on our blog!
The video shows 1/2 cup Thieves Detergent but the ingredients underneath show 2 tablespoons of the Thieves Detergent. Which one is the right measurement? Thank you!!!
Hey Maria, sorry about this mistake. The video is correct and the recipe has since been fixed. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Thanks for stopping by and let us know how this stain stick turns out!
I had never heard of washing soda, either. You learn something new every day.
Looking forward to making this. I like to put a capful of Thieves Household Cleaner in each load of laundry for an extra clean, fresh smell. In the dryer I put lavender on my wool dryer ball for bed linen and Purification on everything else.
is YL considering marketing these or something similar in the near future?
Hello Nancy. We are not sure, but it is always a possibility! We love the idea though! Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for commenting on our blog.
I’m sorry what is Washing Soda? Is it baking soda?
Hey Blanka. Washing soda is different than baking soda. Washing soda is a sodium carbonate that dissolves in water and is used for washing and cleaning. You can purchase it at many local grocery stores or online as well. Hope that helps and thanks for stopping by!

I love using Thieves cleaner in place of laundry soap when I run out! What great products we have with Young Living!!
Hi,Nothing smells better than putting lemon or lavender into your rinse cycle of your washing. I love my clothes smelling good on me.
Did the PDF file download for anyone? I could not get it to load. LOVE THIS IDEA! Thank you Young Living for all the things you do. <3
Love that I can print this recipe and the labels. Thank You
What is washing soda? And where can you purchase it?
Hey Darcy. Washing soda is a sodium carbonate that dissolves in water and is used for washing and cleaning. You can purchase it at many local grocery stores or online as well. Hope that helps and thanks for stopping by!
Can you give us some brand names for this washing soda?
When I browsed online I had several come up: Arm & Hammer, 20 Mule Team, or Letric. We don’t advise one brand over another, but here are just some examples of brands that you may find at any local grocery store. Thanks!
..and typically in the laundry supply area.
This looks awesome!!! Can’t wait to make it!!!
