Dark, delicious, decadent—diet friendly? This chocolate mousse recipe cuts out unhealthy fats and excess sugar without compromising texture or flavor. With just three dairy-free ingredients, you can have a satisfying dark chocolate mousse dessert in less than 15 minutes and without undoing your day. So when cookies and candy call your name, just reach into the fridge and escape to a guilt-free chocolate-peppermint wonderland.

Dairy-Free Dark Chocolate Peppermint Mousse Recipe



  1. In a medium saucepan, bring filtered water to a boil. Turn off heat and add Yacon Syrup and chocolate.
  2. Whisk until completely melted and smooth.
  3. Add Peppermint Vitality and whisk again.
  4. Pour melted chocolate into the mixing bowl in the ice bath and whisk vigorously until mixture becomes thick and ribbon-like.
  5. Spoon mousse into petite serving cups or ramekins and refrigerate 1 hour.
  6. Garnish with a light dusting of powdered sugar and sprig of fresh mint.

    For other seasons, what other oils would you suggest in place of peppermint?

    • Hey Amber! Honestly it depends on the flavors you like with dark chocolate. We would suggest replacing the Peppermint Vitality with either Orange Vitality for a more citrus taste or Lavender Vitality for a more aromatic or floral taste. We have found these combos to be delicious! Have fun experimenting and thanks for stopping by!

    Making this tonight for my Essential Oils between the sheets class! love that it’s dairy free! I might add orange vitality instead of peppermint vitality, hmm.

      How much ice and water please?

      • Hey Carol! The amount of ice and water necessary for the ice bath depends on the size of your mixing bowl. As long as you have the ice bath high and cold enough that the mixing bowl contents can be cooled, it will turn out. We suggest that you first fill the ice bath with water and then add ice until the water is cold enough to solidify the mousse. Hope that helps and thanks for commenting!

  • Absolutely delicious and so easy! Yesterday I made it for my Valentine’s DIY Spa Party. Easy to make (just make sure you have ice-cubes made). When whisking vigorously by hand it splashed all over so I used a hand mixer on lowest speed for about 5 minutes. Beautiful and light consistency and the taste is yummy. I may try without the syrup for less sweeter taste. Not sure if that would affect the consistency. It’s a keeper!
