Recognizing and Rewarding New Silvers in 2009

Young Living Silver Club 2009

In July 2009, Young Living hosted a memorable weekend in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, for the most recent members of Silver Club (Young Living Independent Distributors who have achieved the rank of Silver). The three-day event was packed with opportunities to network with other distributors from Australia, Canada, Europe, Japan, the United States, and the newest Young Living market, Mexico. Attendees enjoyed a full day focused on methods for building their businesses, an unforgettable trip to the Young Living farm in St. Maries, Idaho, and a night of well-deserved recognition.

Welcome Reception

Young Living Silver distributors met with others who also advanced to this rank over the past year and were greeted by members of the Young Living Executive Team, including CEO Doug Nelson, and General Manager, Americas Mike McLean.

Also attending were several high-ranking distributors who came to meet with leaders in their downlines, share their experiences, and give new Silvers great advice and business-building tips.

The night started with the much anticipated NingXia Red® bar. Then, Regional Business Director Nick Killpack brought the house down with a wide variety of upbeat tunes. After a healthy dinner of local fish, cheeses, and fruits, Doug Nelson hit the stage to express his appreciation for the hard work that attendees put in over the past year.

A Day to Grow

The first full day at Silver Club was all about learning how to share the Young Living message, achieve goals, and build an even stronger business. Mike McLean began the day and applauded the Silvers for their significant achievement noting, "You are among the top 1 percent of all MLM distributors. You are our top guns!" He then prepared the crowd for some inspirational speakers.

First up was Young Living distributor Vicki Opfer, whose speech "Strategy, Structure, and Duplication" explained the power of focusing your energy by holding small group meetings and talking to five or six potential new distributors at a time. She expanded her message to include the importance of recruiting individuals who are open to the Young Living lifestyle and have a desire to improve their overall health through the use of essential oils, essential supplements, NingXia Red, Thieves® products, and the Young Living personal care line. Vicki shared, "Once they use and experience Young Living products, you have a loyal member. Once you teach them how to build their businesses and empower them to hold meetings of their own, you have a loyal and motivated downline distributor."

Next up was Teri Secrest, whose speech "Feeling Alive at 55!" made everyone appreciate the powerful benefits of NingXia Red. Her energy was infectious and filled the room with optimism! Not only did Teri share personal experiences of how NingXia Red has changed and energized her life, she also graciously accepted testimonials from other distributors.  Then, Teri showed how to use those stories to expand and strengthen a Young Living business.

The final speaker of the day was Mary Christensen, who is a leading author, speaker, and coach for many network marketing companies. Mary achieved major success in the direct -selling business prior to writing books, authoring CDs, and giving more than 200 lectures a year. In her first year as a distributor, she sponsored more than 1,000 new members. Mary's presentation was a great opportunity for attendees get information and pointers from someone outside the Young Living family.

After learning and absorbing new information all day, some attendees played the world-famous Coeur d'Alene golf course, trying their luck at the 14th hole floating island green. Others pampered themselves at the spa or simply enjoyed one of the many local restaurants.

St. Maries Farm

The next day started early with a quick breakfast and 60-mile bus trip to the St. Maries farm. Pure and pristine, far from the pollution of urban centers, the lavender seemed to extend as far as the eye can see. Gary Young explained that the varied color— from deep to light purple—is a sign of pure, unadulterated lavender plants. And that a slightly brown flower at the very tip of the plant means that it's ready to be harvested.

While the lavender stole the show for many, there was no doubt which plant has captured Gary Young's imagination: melissa. As he told about its finicky nature and need for love and attention, it was hard to remember that Gary was speaking about a plant and not a close friend or one of his children. And there lies the magic of Gary Young and his essential oils: He loves and cares for his plants as if they are a part of his family, and this results in the most oil rich plants on earth. From how the plants are grown, to when the plants are harvested, to using specific distillation methods that enable us to obtain the very best oil, everything counts. This is what separates Young Living from the rest.

Recognition Dinner

Everyone showered, dressed in formal attire, and was ready for dinner that same evening. And this night was the big event! The Young Living Executive and Sales teams recognized the new Silvers and applauded them for a job well done.
