Young Living Essential Oils Completes Successful Winter Harvest

SALT LAKE CITY—February 14, 2012—Young Living, the world leader in essential oils, has successfully concluded its annual Winter Harvest in Northern Idaho. Dozens of distributors from around the world participated in the harvest, contributing more than 18,000 man hours of difficult but fulfilling labor. The harvest and subsequent distillation yielded a substantial amount of pure, therapeutic-grade essential oil including over 200 gallons of pine and almost 300 gallons of blue spruce.
Under the direction of Young Living Founder, President, and CEO D. Gary Young and Cory Weaver, vice president of global farm operations, distributors and staff teamed together in the cold winter weather at the company’s St. Maries and Highland Flats farms to cut, chip, and distill precious essential oil from several varieties of trees. During the spring another staff of volunteers will gather to carefully replant seedlings to replace the harvested trees.
“Our company is very, very different from other companies in that it actually solicits its distributors to come and be a part of the process,” said Christina Campbell, a distributor from Illinois. “This is really great because we can see the trees being cut down, smell the blue spruce, and be a part of the distillation. When we’re told where our oils come from, we know it’s true because we can say we’ve been to the farms and have seen the distillation.”
Several distributors traveled thousands of miles to participate in the harvest. Rebeccah Steele, a distributor from the United Kingdom, said, “I have been looking forward to coming to the Winter Harvest for the last four years, and it's been really exciting traveling over here and having some fabulous experiences.”
