Gaining financial Freedom by Helping Others

Adam Green is a second-generation Young Living Silver and a personal trainer. Every week he helps more than 50 people reach their goals for better health, nutrition, and physical fitness by incorporating Young Living products into their wellness routine. At only 21 years old, Adam taught a workshop at 2010 International Grand Convention about being part of the next generation of Young Living business builders. Here, he and his parents, Bill and Carla—also Young Living Silvers—share how they got involved in Young Living, including some of their most successful tips for growing an organization.

Carla and Bill were introduced to Young Living in 2000 after speaking to Dr Carolyn DeMarco at the World Natural Medicine Conference in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. “As we have a physiotherapy and acupuncture clinic, she encouraged us to consider integrating Young Living essential oils into our practice,” the Greens recall. They took Dr. DeMarco’s advice, and the response was immediate. “We didn’t anticipate the reaction we received from our patients,” Carla says. “Every single person raved that their treatment was by far the best they’d ever received and wanted to know where to get these oils.”

In 2003 Bill and Carla developed a facial rejuvenation protocol—Second Chance Facial Rejuvenation®—that uses Young Living products both topically and for nutrition. “People saw results really quickly, and Young Living products were a part of that,” says Bill. The demand for this new protocol prompted Carla and Bill to start teaching it to others. With many in their downline practicing the protocol, Carla recalls, “We reached Silver in about six months, earn regular bonuses, and have won all four incentive cruises.”

Young Living was more than just a part of the Greens’ profession. “It percolated through our lives—Adam was raised on Young Living products,” Carla remembers. Adam would bring oils and NingXia Red® to sporting events. “At first the other kids thought it was a little weird, but soon they’d come to him when they got hurt and he’d put oils on them. He’s now a personal trainer and kinesiologist and recommends Young Living products to his clients.”

Adam’s Story

Adam was only 11 when Young Living products came into his home. “I was raised on them,” he says. “I had NingXia Red every day, and when I was 17 or 18, I saw my parents go on their first incentive trip. I realized then that Young Living could bring financial freedom and success.”

When Adam turned 18 he signed up under his parents, mainly for his own usage and not realizing the big picture of the company and business opportunity. “I enjoyed getting a little extra money through sharing Young Living socially, but I didn’t start fully going after it as my own business—not just a subset of my parents’—until a year and a half ago,” he shares.

Adam graduated with a diploma in personal training and kinesiology, and while that really helped him introduce people to Young Living, he believes anyone can realize the same success. “Anyone can go to the gym and pull out their Deep Relief Roll-On and someone will ask you about it. The opportunity grows from there.”

The more Adam learned and the more events he attended, the more he realized that the only way to success was to help others. “Young Living gives me the opportunity to help others with their wellness and their financial freedom. And more and more I realized that sharing Young Living wasn’t work. I was helping people and I actually felt an obligation to share my knowledge.”

Adam’s devotion to sharing Young Living with others has naturally brought about increased financial freedom and success. “I love being a personal trainer. I love that I can provide people with a natural solution while helping them meet their fitness goals. I’m lucky because with Young Living I can leverage my time in a way that allows for more freedom. And both of my professions—personal training and building my Young Living business—allow me to see transformations in people. It’s not just for financial rewards.”

One of the most important motivators to Adam is to let every person he meets knows that they, too, can share his level of success. “You can be successful, and age is not a limitation. Young people might look at Young Living and see that the leaders are older and that might seem intimidating. I’m a 21-year-old male—very atypical at Young Living—and after only three years I’ve seen tremendous success. You can experience a higher quality of life by sharing these products and making others’ lives better! “

Adam went on the 2010 Mediterranean Incentive Cruise, attended convention shortly thereafter, and has no plans to slow down. “I have met so many amazing people. To me Young Living means freedom and that I get to help people. I look at it as ‘How many people can I help?’ That’s the only way to be successful.”

Bill and Carla’s Favorite Products for Sharing

Some of Bill’s favorite products are Deep Relief™ Roll-On and the entire Thieves® line. “Deep Relief is a results product. You put it on anyone and they quickly feel the results and want to know what it is and how they can get it,” he says. “I take Thieves oil everywhere with me and we only use Thieves Household Cleaner in our clinic. It’s a great product—we use it every day.”

Carla prefers some of Young Living’s lesser-known products. “I love ClaraDerm™ for my skin, but when I mention it to other members they hardly ever know what it is. I spray it on my face and neck for anti-aging—the oils in it are fantastic for the skin. I also suggest it to patients for any sort of skin irritation, and since coconut oil and myrrh essential oil both have sun protection properties, it creates a natural barrier.”

Other products Carla enjoys include Valor® essential oil blend and dried Ningxia wolfberries. “I call Valor, ‘meridian balancing in a bottle.’ I’m an acupuncturist and I use Valor in treatments and see great results. I give it to my clients to keep them in balance and I think it helps people handle everyday life.”

Dried Ningxia wolfberries also play a major roll in the Greens’ clinic. “I think Ningxia berries get overlooked. I make my own trail mix with organic raw almonds and coconut and we offer it as snacks for our patients. Not everyone can remember to take a supplement, but everyone loves to snack so it’s a great way to get vitamins!”

Finally, both Bill and Carla love the Everyday Oils™ kit. “We take it everywhere we go and bring along sample bottles for easy sharing.”

Workshop Highlights

Did you miss Adam’s workshop at the 2010 convention? Here are some of his tips for growing your Young Living organization:
  • Recruit young members: They are a relatively untapped market and can easily get other young people involved.
  • Utilize premium Start Living kits: This provides the new distributor with free product and information right away. Signing up with premium Start Living kits is also the first step to maximizing the compensation plan.
  • Flaunt your product: Take information and products on the bus, to sporting events, on the airplane, and stock your house.
  • Knowledge is power: If you don’t know, you can’t grow! You have to be able to educate people on the spot. Spend at least 15 minutes every night reviewing product literature or your Essential Oils Desk Reference.
  • Provide guidance: The first two months with new distributors are the biggest months—be there for them! The more support you give, the more money you can make initially (Star Performance and Matching Bonuses).
  • Know the compensation plan: Young Living has one of the most generous compensation plans in the industry. Become experts on it and learn how to earn the Starter, Star Performance, Matching, and Team Performance bonuses—they will help you structure your organization to maximize earning potential.
